ExportNZ congratulates NZIER on Best Plain English Communication

Nov 7, 2016 | News

NZIER is to be congratulated for making economics and trade policy easier to understand and more accessible to the general public says ExportNZ.

Executive Director Catherine Beard says “We’re really pleased to see NZIER being awarded the WriteMark New Zealand Plain English Awards People’s Choice – Best Communication category for its work on TPP related issue ISDS and sovereignty.

“This helped to better inform the public about the implications of TPP from an independent source and in easy-to-understand language.

“This was a particularly important topic as misinformation was being generated through some alarmist reporting. TPP was crying out for some clear, fact based, plain English communication, and the NZIER delivered.

“We need more of these types of plain English reports. Clear communication on complex issues such as free trade agreements helps busy decision-makers and opens up a better-informed and productive public debate.”
