Discover more about the exciting markets of Malaysia and Singapore and how they can serve as a hub for New Zealand businesses in Southeast Asia.

The session’s topics cover the macro and business environments in Singapore and Malaysia, key aspects of the cultures in business, consumer behaviour, how to identify opportunities, and market entry strategies. Participants can tap into the expert knowledge provided by academics and learn about opportunities and challenges of doing business in Malaysia and Singapore. During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to share, exchange ideas, and network with other individuals and businesses participating in the workshop.

Antje Fiedler

Senior Lecturer at the Graduate School of Management, University of Auckland

Antje teaches on the MBA and Masters program in the area of international business and strategy. She has undertaken extensive research on growth, innovation and internationalization of NZ SMEs. Her research has been published in international journals as well as informed courses at the Business School (University of Auckland) and practitioner workshops around New Zealand (hosted at Export NZ). She is the Director of the China Studies Centre of the University of Auckland and an academic advisor of the South East Asia CAPE.

Benjamin Fath

Senior Lecturer in Management and International Business in the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Auckland

Ben Fath is a Senior Lecturer in Management and International Business in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Auckland. His research has included the growth, internationalisation and innovation in New Zealand SMEs. He has been involved in a series of large-scale survey and interview studies that investigated management challenges in SMEs operating from small economies. His recent research has been on how the economic re-emergence of Asia influences New Zealand SMEs. This has informed a number of courses at the Business School on research methods, entrepreneurship and competing in Asia; as well as practitioner workshops across the country.
