Mike is currently a director, advisor, and consultant to companies entering and growing in markets globally. He brings significant experience from doing business in over 40 countries – from identifying global business opportunities to creating and implementing strategies to take advantage of those opportunities. Mike has lived in China, Japan, and the UK. He speaks Japanese and has elementary level Mandarin.

Mike spent four years as Trade Commissioner in Shanghai leading NZTE’s biggest and busiest office and at the same time leading the Food & Beverage team in Greater China. He led a significant increase in activity with New Zealand F&B companies and introduced a much stronger commercial drive to the teams. Prior to joining NZTE, Mike led the development and entry into new markets and new business models for the global children’s wear brand Pumpkin Patch as the company grew to a $440m annual turnover.
