Former diplomat Stephen Jacobi has been a long-time adviser and commentator on international trade, government relations and industry issues.  As well as Executive Director of NZIBF, he serves as Alternate Member of the APEC Business Advisory Council and is an Advisory Board Member of Export NZ.

Catherine Beard: ExportNZ How you can best prepare for 2021
Catherine Beard is Executive Director of Export NZ and ManufacturingNZ, divisions of Business NZ, New Zealand’s largest business advocacy group, representing thousands of businesses of all sizes. Catherine works with government and other key decision makers on issues of concern to exporters and manufacturers. Catherine has participated in Prime Minister led trade missions to Indonesia and China and represents BusinessNZ on the NZ US Council and the Board of GS1.

Peter Chrisp: New Zealand Trade and Enterprise – Rising to the Challenge
Pete steers the Lead team and has been chief executive of NZTE since 2011. He has a passion for New Zealand, which drives his commitment to NZTE; he believes he works for a cause, not an institution. He focusses on capability, culture and leadership in order to build a strong operating system that adds value to export and investment customers, and he collaborates strongly with his other New Zealand partners.

Rob Achten:  Animals Like Us – Teaching an Old Dog New Tricks – A New Breed of Start-Up
After running his own design agency Rob started at Icebreaker as Creative Director, eventually becaming Vice President of Product for the company, heading up the team from Portland, USA. He stayed with Icebreaker for eleven years. Moving to Hawke’s Bay with another venture he is thrilled to reunite with Icebreaker founder Jeremy Moon for Animals Like Us, along with agriculture industry leader Craig Hickson.

Greg is a co-founder of GO Healthy New Zealand, New Zealand Health Manufacturing and the Better Health Company Group. Within the Group he previously held the role of CEO/CFO and is now Executive Chairman of The Better Health Company, working with the Board, the current CEO & Group Leadership Team directing strategy and business expansion and growth.
Greg has more than 25 years commercial business development and leadership experience including more than 16 years in the natural products industry. 

Nicola O’Rourke: Lewis Road Creamery – Adding Value to our Stories
Nicola joined Lewis Road Creamery as General Manager, spending the majority of her time overseeing the commercialization of the brand in off shore markets, including China and America. Nicola enjoys supporting NZ businesses to differentiate their quality stories and find unique ways to position brands to deliver value. Nicola is also Chair of the New Zealand Food Basket, a collaboration of 16 of NZ’s top Food & Beverage businesses working together to access consumers through e-commerce platform Alibaba. 

Paul Gestro: ASB – Export Panel Facilitator
Paul is ASB’s International Trade Consultant, working alongside kiwi businesses to help them grow and trade internationally. Over a 25-year career in international business, Paul has started and run export businesses, raised capital for start-ups and worked for banks and multinationals managing cross border payments, trade and capital flows. Trade, investment and diplomatic postings in Asia and North America round out Paul’s career. 

Nick Tuffley: Chief Economist, ASB – Strategic Insights
Since starting out in 1997 as an economist, it’s fair to say Nick has seen a few hair-raising moments over the years, including the Asian Financial Crisis and the Global Financial Crisis. One of Nick’s strengths is his ability to communicate complex ideas in a readily understandable and entertaining way. He learned his economic ropes at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand before a long stint as a Senior Economist at Westpac. He joined ASB as Chief Economist in 2007. 

Hal Josephson: MediaSense – Going Global Virtually – Making ‘Tele’ Work for You

Hal Josephson was a serial entrepreneur for over 20 years while living in Aspen, Boulder, Silicon Valley and San Francisco. During this period, he co-founded five USA companies. These businesses focused on video production, teleconferencing, tele-skills™ training, satellite downlinks & communication and technology IP licensing.  For the past 8 years, Hal has been Program Chair for AUT’s Project Connect international speaker’s series, and is on a number of SME advisory boards.
Hal has been working on his next book, Life-Size Story, scheduled for release in the Spring of 2021.
