Export Insight: The Power of the Story

‘’The power of a single story goes far beyond simply relaying facts and data and can be a highly effective tool to create customer loyalty. Stories emotionalise information. They give colour and depth to otherwise bland material and they allow people to connect with the message in a deeper, more meaningful way’’. – Peter Guber, CEO of Mandalay Entertainment

Join us for an engaging afternoon of storytelling as leaders in export share anecdotes about their journey onto the world stage. Each speaker tells a different story whilst annotating their experiences with key takeaways and lessons learned. Gain insights from the people at the top through the power of storytelling in this unique event.

Greg Trotter, GM Global Transaction Banking at ASB

Economic Update.

Tony Martin, CEO Prevar – The Pathway to Premiumisation

New Zealand consistently ranks as one of the world’s best producers of apples and pears, but we currently have less than 1% market share of the NZ$100bn global industry. We remain exposed to commodity cycles and forces of supply and demand when we play in the space of widely produced open access varieties. Tony yarns about his experience and the importance of growing great brands to gain relevance and preference in our key export markets.

Sarah Sherriff and Dave Anderson, Dash Group – Lessons learned exporting NZ’s favourite brands and what it takes to be a successful global business

Sarah Sherriff has a great track record of growing innovative New Zealand brands overseas. She held executive roles in New Zealand and North America during 13 years at Icebreaker. As International Markets Manager at Whittaker’s, Satah focused on profitable expansion in Asia, Canada and the Middle East. Most recently Sarah was CFO and Head of Export at Fix & Fogg, opening over 3,000 stores in the USA.

Dave Anderson has expertise in partnering collaboratively with boards, CEO/founders and leadership teams to deliver successful strategic, financial and operational outcomes for pre-revenue start-ups to large corporates. Dave is ex-CFO and COO of Icebreaker and ex-CFO of Goodman Fielder, and guided Part Time Rangers from start-up to sale in three years later.

Craig Sims, CEO Craggy Range – The Power of Partnerships

Craggy Range is focused on becoming one of New Zealand’s great wine producers and a producer that can comfortably sit alongside the great wineries of the world. Craig joined Craggy Range in May 2022 following an extensive career in financial Services across Asia Pacific, Australia, and New Zealand. This included multiple roles at CEO, COO and other senior executive positions. He has a focus on building for business success with a long-term focus through deep connections with customers, people and community.
