Paul Zwaan, Owner, Shark Seats

Shark Seating is the brainchild of Paul Zwaan who began his design consultancy in 1996 with the aim of transforming businesses through ergonomic design. In 2011, Shark won contracts for suspension seating in high-speed NZ Navy boats and Coastguard boats. Since then, Shark has become the preferred supplier to America’s Cup chase-boats, high-speed tour-boats and fishing boats worldwide. Paul Zwaan will share his story on overcoming initial start-up hurdles and his high-volume, high-tech approach to building the business to where it is today.

Nona Pedersen, General Manager, Propspeed International.

Nona Pedersen shares her story as a young woman who has grown within the boating sector from graduate to General Manager. She will detail their involvement in the America’s Cup, and the development of the marine, manufacturing, and tech sectors over the last 10 years and what it means for New Zealand’s commerce.

Martin Vogel, Managing Director, Hansa Products Limited.

Martin Vogel will discuss scaling the business from a father and son duo to a team of 43 employees and shipping product all over the world. He will cover production, sales and distribution, and the highlights of negotiating and transitioning manufacturing for the Australian market back to New Zealand.
