Sustainability Update from BusinessNZ Network

Sustainability Update from BusinessNZ Network

The BusinessNZ Network are developing a service proposition for members on the topic of Sustainability. Partnering with the Sustainable Business Council we will be launching in early 2022 a suite of tools, training, events and resources to support small to medium businesses in New Zealand. Whilst many large businesses (like Zespri who are so committed to this) are well versed in their sustainability journey, most SME’s are yet to embark on theirs. For most initially, the advances for many businesses will be about step change. But with developments in Zero Carbon and Climate Change alone, the need for management to step up and take responsibility for sustainability in their organisation will become apparent,  all too soon.

Many of you in the Export and Manufacturing sectors are already involved as part of the supply chain of larger committed organisations. Never-the-less we envisage there will be something for you in our range of services. Training alone runs from introductory courses and employee induction right through to senior Leadership Programmes. Key to this service offering will be following the 3 pillars the Sustainable Business Council focus on, Leadership, Climate Action, and Thriving People. They are simple actions all small businesses will benefit from.

Very simply, we hope to build a level of Subject Matter Expertise in all our members businesses across the Network. The BusinessNZ Network, combines BusinessNZ and regional organisations; EMA, Business Central, Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Business South, representing over 76,000 businesses across all sectors and sizes, throughout New Zealand. Our Network goal is to support businesses throughout New Zealand to thrive, and supporting businesses to be more sustainable is vital.
