Peter Webb, Chief Executive
Independent Verification Services
Peter is the Chief Executive at IVS, a company he founded 15 years ago, initially focused on Biosecurity and Forestry. This has now grown into the IVS Group, consisting of IVS Labs, undertaking compliance testing for Preservatives protection in NZ and Australia; IVS Training, providing Biosecurity, Customs, Dangerous Goods, Forklift and a range of otherindustry-based training; OntrackNZ which provides young people with work ready training and connects them to businesses. Lastly and appropriately for this audience, IVS origin. This organisation provides origin certification for exporters both under NZ Free Trade Agreements and also for those exporting to countries who don’t have specific agreements with NZ. Before IVS, Peter held the role of National Compliance Manager for Transitional and Containment Facilities at the then MAF Quarantine Service, which is now MPI. Even further back, he was a hill country sheep and beef farmer and as such is passionate about the land, enabling NZ exporters to trade and protecting NZ’s environment.
Allyson Wood, Director
Ortex Consulting Group
Allyson is consulting within the supply chain industry, delivering industry training and advice enabling businesses to build resilience and efficiency improvements. Allyson has over 20 years supply chain experience, predominately in the freight forwarding, engineering and gas sector, in various operational and management roles. She has over 10 years supply chain lecturing experience at the Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) New Zealand Maritime School, specialising in Customs, Procurement, Inventory Management and Logistics. Allyson was a member of the MIT Academic Standards Committee.
Gavin de Steur, Chief Customer Officer

Gavin de Steur has over 20 years’ experience, which include both engineering and marketing product management as well as building and selling his own tech start-up. Gavin is currently working for TradeWindow, a super-connector of trade solutions enabling compliance, trust and security to global trade, where he is responsible for Customer Success.
Katrina Devereux, Export Channel Manager

Katrina Devereux is Air New Zealand Cargo’s Export Channel Manager. Katrina’s passion is on the continued success and growth of our NZ exporters through the development of new markets, product development, and bringing a growth mindset to the value chain. Katrina has significant international supply chain and retail brand development experience within the Manufacturing, FMCG, Shipping Line, Freight Forwarding and Logistics industries.
Brendan Pearce, Chief Customs Officer
New Zealand Customs Service
Brendan Pearce is the Chief Customs Officer at the New Zealand Customs Service. Brendan has worked for Customs for almost 20 years in a variety of roles and currently looks after the Trade Assurance Export Programme. In this role Brendan works closely with industry, partner agencies and offshore Customs Liaison Officers to support exporters. Brendan is passionate about Continuous Improvement and had led several initiatives to improve customer experiences at Customs. He is currently the project manager for the development of the Joint Electronic Verification Self Service System that will enable self-declarations into China.
There is a Q&A session held after the presentations. It is highly interactive and allows participants to follow up with questions and discussions relating to export documentation & Incoterms, tailored to their company needs.
The Q&A panel is made up of presenters, and we will also be joined by a spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
