Better Exporting – Belt & Road Initiative – A Strategic Pathway

The Silk Road Economic Belt meets the new coastal Maritime Silk Road to connect Eurasia. What are the implications for our exports to that vast region?

Join us to learn how New Zealand can put itself on the map that is the Silk Road Economic Belt and Maritime Silk Road, or Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

BRI-related infrastructure development is changing the flow of goods around the globe and these changes have the potential to impact on the flow of NZ’s trade into China.

Learn how the BRI is an opportunity to engage and enhance not only existing linkages with China but also other BRI countries.

Until now there has only been limited discussion of BRI in New Zealand, but we are pleased to host Stephen Jacobi, Executive Director of the New Zealand China Council, to present a report his Council commissioned from PwC on the subject.

Following his talk will be a panel discussion on the opportunities identified in the report on these four areas:

  • Trade Facilitation,
  • New Zealand as a   conduit to South America
  • Creative Sector
  • Innovation

Panel Members:

  • Roger Wakelin – CEO, Simcro
  • William Zhao – Director General, Oceania Silk Road Network (OSRN)
  • Yolande Louw – Supply Chain Manager, BODCO
