INCO Terms Rules Explained – Masterclass

This half-day workshop is a must for anyone involved in international trade.  Ideal for both beginners and experienced professionals who just want to up-date themselves on Incoterms 2010.

INCOTERMS are used internationally to determine buyers and sellers risks and responsibilities in international contracts.   Failure to use them correctly puts your company at risk – and this is especially true of companies training under ExWorks or DDP terms.

This half-day interactive workshop gives a clear explanation of each term and has time for participants to concentrate on their own requirements individually or in group sessions.

  • Incoterms at work – “use and abuse”.
  • The four groups and the eleven terms examined in respect of delivery, division of costs, risks and obligations etc.
  • Incoterms and modes of transport – the conventional sea freight factor
  • Common misunderstandings examined and eliminated
  • Legal implications of the terms and implications of misusing a term
  • Risk – who is responsible if the goods are lost or damaged – how does this affect insurance policies

– PUTTING INCOTERMS INTO PRACTICE

  • Export Policy: some general advice and conclusions. What to do with the new “D” Terms.

– SALES – PROCUREMENT – LOGISTICS

  • The different viewpoints – how to achieve harmony and come to an agreed Incoterms policy – effects on the business and how to make them visible
  • How much control do Exporters want in their supply chain,  advantages and disadvantages

– EXPORT DOCUMENTATION

  • We will cover Certificates of Origin and any other specific documents. We will consult with you each individually around your requirements prior to the workshop

Guest Speaker: Malcolm Brown – Senior Lecturer, Manukau Institute of Technology. Malcolm has more than 40 years experience in the International Freight Forwarding Industry. This includes Branch and Marketing Management roles. Malcolm is a FIATA accredited trainer for IATA Dangerous Cargo Courses and has an IATA and CBAFF industry membership.
